France x Canada Panel – Unlocking Synergies in Biomanufacturing

Published on May 20, 2026 by Caroline Bernard
Événement

For what the Franco-Canadian panel on 29 May highlighted was not so much what distinguishes the two countries as what brings them together structurally: internationally recognised academic foundations – Inserm, CNRS, Institut Pasteur and CEA on the French side, and major universities on the Canadian side (Vancouver, Toronto, Montreal, etc.) which Ottawa is seeking to specialise –; recognised regulatory capacity; but also a shared difficulty in transforming this scientific excellence into industrial champions. This challenge of translational research – how to make the leap from discovery to industrialisation? – is precisely where this cooperation can create value.

On the agenda

• Overview of the French and Canadian biomanufacturing ecosystems • Industry and academic perspectives and insights • Competitiveness, sovereignty and health emergency preparedness challenges • Public-private partnerships, technology transfer and innovation • Opportunities for France–Canada collaboration in biomanufacturing
