👉 Choose France: announcements in bioproduction

More than €30 billion in French industrial investments were announced on Monday at the French edition of the Choose France summit. Healthcare plays a key role, with around 15 projects announced, several of which relate to bioproduction. For example, Sanofi is investing in a new building for the production of biomedicines in Trait (Seine-Maritime). Astraveus was also in the spotlight. The start-up is developing microfluidic technology to reduce the costs of personalized cell therapies.

👉 GenoSafe strengthens its biotherapy control capabilities in Evry

GenoSafe, a spin-off of AFM Téléthon and Généthon, inaugurated its new 1,200 m² building in Evry-Courcouronnes on November 13. This €17 million investment will enable it to increase its quality control capabilities for gene and cell therapy products. “This is a new step in GenoSafe's growth and in the structuring of the French biotherapy sector,” said Serge Braun, President of GenoSafe. The laboratory also hopes to obtain new ANSM certification by next summer so that it can analyze and control phase II and III clinical trials.

👉 EuropaBio calls for a more ambitious European Biotech Act

EuropaBio has submitted its official response to the public consultation on the EU Biotech Act, calling for “ambition and boldness” commensurate with the challenges at stake. The union is calling for simplified procedures, harmonization of environmental and clinical rules, and fast-tracks for sustainable bioprocesses. EuropaBio advocates for massive investment support, including integration of European capital markets and tools to bring R&D closer to the market. The organization also stresses the need to strengthen clusters, combat skills shortages, and encourage AI-biotech infrastructure. “The Biotech Act represents a generational opportunity for Europe that must not be wasted,” says Claire Skentelbery, Executive Director.
