👉🏻 ATMP@APHP Center: The Hub of AP-HP's Biomanufacturing Activities
AP-HP has consolidated its advanced therapy medicinal product (ATMP) manufacturing capabilities within the ATMP@APHP Center. The new center brings together the Meary Center, dedicated to the development of bespoke experimental treatments, and the Gene and Cell Therapy Laboratory at Necker–Enfants Malades Hospital. Its mission is to accelerate clinical trials and make next-generation therapies more accessible across all AP-HP hospitals and departments.
👉🏻 A Strong Biomanufacturing Network, but Industrial Sovereignty Still Needs Strengthening
France's biomanufacturing sector currently includes 52 GMP-compliant facilities operated by 35 companies, according to the 2026 France Attractiveness 360° Barometer, produced by PwC for Leem (June 2026). Of these, 31 facilities are contract development and manufacturing organizations (CDMOs), 16 are captive manufacturing sites, and five are dedicated Fill & Finish facilities.
The Paris region and Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes account for the majority of these facilities, with key players including YposKesi, CellforCure, Sanofi, and the French Blood Establishment (EFS). However, the report also highlights France's vulnerability: only 10% of new marketing authorizations approved in Europe between 2021 and 2025 are supported by a manufacturing site in France, compared with 29% in Germany.
